MILNERTON - GOLF COURSE Milnerton in the north of Cape Town lies in one of the most windy parts of the Cape metropolis. Particularly from December to March, the Southeaster often blows here with gale force, because there is no mountain range to slow it down. Of course the Milnerton Golf Course, being situated on a peninsula right at the sea, is fully exposed to its power. That is what makes the course a real challenge. The terrain is quite flat and has no trees. The view of Table Mountain, however, is breathtaking. Another attraction are the many waterbirds on the bordering lagoon. One plays nine holes out and nine holes back to the club house. The Milnerton Golf Course is some 8 kilometres away from the city centre of Cape Town. From Cape Town travel on the N1, which you soon leaves in the direction of "Paarden Eiland / Milnerton". In Milnerton you turn left and cross the small lagoon on a bridge. The entrance of the golf club lies on your right, opposite the lighthouse of Milnerton. STELLENBOSCH - GOLF COURSE Stellenbosch lies in the centre of the fertile and very scenic winegrowing area of the Cape, less than an hour's drive out of Cape Town. With its numerous diligently restored buildings in the Cape Dutch style and its renowned university, it is one of the most attractive travel destinations in the Cape. A visit to the town's exclusive golf course situated just out of town amid vineyards is very rewarding. It is a course of the championship class which hosted the South African Open in 1999. A championship course in a parkland setting surrounded by mountains and vineyards. Scenic and in excellent condition, Stellenbosch presents a fair challenge with some memorable holes. The stroke index 1 hole does not give up par easily. To reach this par four in two you need a long drive followed by an approach over some out-of-bounds vineyards to an elevated green.   ATLANTIC BEACH - GOLF COURSE Enjoy our Championship Links Golf Course with its traditional style and ocean breeze off the ocean. It lies sixty kilometres northeast of Cape Town. The town is wealthy and boasts a great number of beautiful buildings in the Victorian and Cape Dutch styles. The Paarl Golf Course is one of the most popular of the Cape, because it is completely protected from the wind, which distinguishes it from the courses in Cape Town and on the Peninsula. In summer, however, it can get very hot in Paarl. The course borders on the Berg River and is relatively flat. Impressive are the wonderful old trees lining the fairways. One has the most beautiful view from hole 6 (par 3), to the left onto vineyards and the Berg River, and in the background are the majestic mountains of the escarpment. The course will be upgraded to 27 holes in the near future. The club house was completely upgraded only recently. It offers a bar and a well stocked pro shop. ROYAL CAPE  - GOLF COURSE Royal Cape Golf Club is a true championship course having hosted the South African Open no less than eleven times and the SA Amateur Championships eight times. The most recent SA Open held here was in 1996 and was won by Ernie Els. Royal Cape has been chosen as the venue to host the Vodacom Players Championships. The selection of Royal Cape as the "Home of the Vodacom Players Championships" further underlines the championship status of the course The course today is a fine test of golf especially when the south-easter is blowing. Essentially it is a flat parkland course, well maintained and a pleasure to play with lovely views of the Table Mountain range. The fairways are narrow and tree-lined, demanding accuracy off the tees. Wayward shots are penalised by trees and the greens are well bunkered. There is also plenty of water on the course, particularly at the corner of the 3rd and 4th and 5th holes and also at the 14th, 15th and 16th holes.
